Max+ Motorcycle Carrier - Overview

Our elite sport bike, scrambler and dual sport motorcycle carrier - designed & assembled in Texas. Weighing 62 lbs. and hauling motorcycles up to 600 lbs., it offers outstanding structural efficiency with innovative adjustable parts; a two-piece/locking front wheel chock, an advanced gripping tire track for wide tires, two broad tie down arms with a patented design, an elongated ramp with quicker loading access and a stabilizing single bolt connection to vehicles. Release your concerns and haul in maximum confidence with the MotoTote Max+.

TECHNOLOGY & FEATURES

MTX Platform

Heavy-duty steel main support connects to the receiver tube, hauls up to 500 lbs. (227 kgs.), and allows for track, chock, and orientation adjustability alongside the attachment of innovative components.

StableStop Chock Extra Wide

Adjustable two piece tire mount locks front tires up to 5.5" (139 mm) wide into chock, maximizes support, and holds the bike upright while securing tie-downs.

MaxHold HD Tracks

Laser cut track with advanced geometry reduces carrier weight, grips/wedges rear tires up to 9" (229 mm) wide into the track, and accommodates most wheelbases up to a 65" (165 cm).

BroadPull+ Arms (Front & Back)

Two wide tie-down arms maximize tie down leverage on the front and rear of the motorcycle. Patented shape increases carrier clearance on hills and off-road.

QuickLoad Ramp

A long laser-cut ramp increases tire's traction, eases the loading angle and unhooks from the same side the ramp connects for a quicker loading process.

HitchLift Receiver Tube

Innovative 2" receiver tube counteracts common vehicle hitch droop with a slight upward bend, ensuring that the rack is angled correctly from the back of the vehicle. Provides additional ground clearance, attachment of ramp and distance from vehicle adjustability.

ZeroWobble+ Hitch Mount

Upgraded single-bolt hitch mount installs quickly, requires fewer tools and eliminates rack movement in transport.

Max+ hitch carrier

We purchased the Max+ to haul our Tenere 700 on our Chevy Tahoe. We drove over 1500 miles out to Oregon and were very please with your product. We are really happy that we purchase the additional accessories ( tie down kit, LED Lights and the licensce plate holder) because it did make towing much easier. Over all we are really please with the Max+ Moto Tote.

Great but not Perfect

I'll start with the good. This thing made it up and down some of the gnarliest roads in the eastern US with a 480 lbs bike strapped to it—most notably, Highway 80 from Marion to the Blue Ridge Parkway. After that, everything felt like a breeze. My bike broke down in the middle of a wild road and this thing was clutch when it came to being able to load up by myself and get out of there.

The reasons for 4 stars: I remember seeing how these were made out of high-quality metal, but the first day it was in the rain, rust was on every exposed piece the very next day. Given the end caps were already falling off, plenty of water was entering each pipe.

The big thing for me though was the amount of torque loss in each bolt. I had to re-torque the hitch and main support bolts at every destination. Not easy if I were doing multiple day trips before bringing the bike off of it. My advice, bring torque wrenches and use the blue Loctite when putting it together. I feel this should be a recommendation as part of the instructions.

When people ask, this is still the carrier I recommend. I just bring caution with the praise.

Thank you for the feedback! The only component where corrosion might affect stuctural integrity is the big diameter tube/beam of the MTX Platform. This tube has drain/vent holes on the underside so when its level on the vehicle the moisture can escape. This is preferable to trying to seal the tube to prevent water intrusion because if any gets in, it needs a way to escape.
The few cases where we've seen significant corrosion on an MTX Platform is when a MotoTote carrier was stored outside and an unusual angle, allowing rain water to enter and pool - for example, leaning it up against the side of the garage outdoors.
You are right that the ZeroWobble Hitch connection and the two main bolts of the MTX Platform will need retightening for the first few hundred miles of use. This is because the metal is 'breaking in', not because the nuts are unthreading so loctite should not be used until the break in is complete. You'll know it's complete when retightening is no longer necessary.

Max+ Motorcycle Hitch Carrier is a solid recommend

Ordered the Max+ with the LED Light Kit and the Deluxe Tie Down Bundle.
Everything was packaged nicely with all hardware packets clearly marked. Installation took about an hour. MotoTote's YouTube install video helped a lot. Installed it on a Promaster camper van that has a rear ladder so I used the 2nd set of holes where the MotoTote secures to the hitch receiver. This extends the MotoTote out a couple of more inches so the Yamaha's TW200 handlebars can clear the ladder. Everything feels rock solid with the bike on board. Tie downs are top quality and the LED lights are a nice safety feature since the bike does partially block the brake lights on a Promaster. I added some red safety flags to the rearmost tie down loops for added visibility since they do stick out a ways.

Worth the money

This is the best carrier on the market. I bought a cheaper one and it was a joke. This one is rock solid. I have about 200 miles using it with a dirt bike and scrambler. The rear tire tie down is money.

Used it on Macan with Panigale V2. Looks sketchy but trust science on this one. Held on pretty good. Minimal wobble and easy installation.
