Max Dual Double Motorcycle Carrier

The rack is great. It is solid. I already carried my Scooter and no problems. I also purchased a Rhino no wobble bracket to use in addition to the no wobble pin included. I am only giving 4 stars because the bolts in packet 1 did not contain the correct bolts. I had to purchase 4 bolts and was told I would get a credit for the bolts and my trouble when I contacted Mototote. Never heard again from them.

I don't normally write reviews, but was impressed enough, I will. This is for the double motorcycle rack.

I will start with, on its face, the rack seems expensive. Once you receive it and see the quality and attention to detail, it is actually a good value. If you are looking at this rack, you are likely cross-shopping the other high quality competitor. I have seen both in person and the other manufacture makes a perfectly good product, but this is big step up in design and execution. I think the price premium is well worth it.

Starting with opening the box and assembly. Mototote has the best directions ever (yes some of us read and follow them). Also, instead of a bag with a bunch of hardware, you get individually wrapped and labeled bags with the step number on them. Assembly is easy, there are even torque specs. Figure 30 minutes for the double rack moving a a moderate pace.

Loading and unloading is not difficult aside from there being two bike and having to reach a bit further. The rack is stable when driving no movement.

I did have one minor issue, and not the rack. I put the rack on the back of my 1 ton dually which has a factory hitch rated at 12,000 pounds with a 1200 pound tongue rating, I discovered something. Dodge, true to form has a note to be found only on the original sticker that the hitch is only rated for 600 pounds tongue weight without a weight distribution hitch. I find it truly baffling that a 1 ton truck that is designed to be used for towing (and has a 5,000 pound load capacity in the bed) would come with a hitch with such a low tongue rating (my VW Touareg has a 750 pound tongue rating). Net result, I bent the hitch (see photos) and had to ratchet strap it up to make sure I got home okay (did about 500 miles).

So great rack, my only caveat is make absolutely sure your vehicle has sufficient suspension support for a load cantilevered out with a two bike rack and the hitch will actually support it. In the meantime, I get to buy a new hitch to replace my factory junk hitch. (Before and after shots are included.)

This carrier is well designed and built with quality in mind. 100% satisfied. Note to others, it’s worth also buying an anti-rattle hitch stabilizer (<$15) to minimize any side to side movement.

Marvin and team have created a great product that doesn't really exist out there. There are dual carriers, but probably not of this quality. It's stout, heavy, and strong. The locking mechanism at the hitch to limit sway is excellent. The design is intelligent. Instructions were good. I also had an extenuating circumstance with my order, and Marvin was on top of it the entire way. Good stuff!

When looking for something to haul my 400cc dualsport my father-in-law thought a big trailer would be the only way to get it across the country. He never admits when he is wrong except this one occasion. We hauled it 10+ hours without it even budging. It's excellently built and you're getting a quality product!

LED light kit did not reach the plug in on the vehicle. Required the purchase of a 27 inch extension.
