Fantastic rack for my Aventon eBike

I’m a 67 year old petite woman, and I was looking for a single bike rack that could accommodate my new Aventon Level-2 ebike. It had to be easy to load and lightweight enough to take it on and off my car as needed. The MotoTote Mini is just perfect! The tie down straps hold the bike very securely. Very pleased with my purchase.

Solid.

I have a 100 pound E-bike with fat tires so finding something that is solid and doesn’t bounce around on the hitch was difficult to find. I came across this and it was better than what I expected it to be. I hit some pretty good bumps and pot holes on my trip and this thing didn’t move or bounce around. Had peace of mind for my entire trip. Another great thing about this rack is I don’t have to take the it off to open the tail gate once the bike is off.
Easy set up, QR code takes you to picture instructions or you have the option of short video instructions. Each bag is label by step so there is no guessing of what bolts or nuts to use. All around great rack.

Overpriced, poor warranty, but functional

TLDR: Overpriced, poor warranty, but functional

I'm writing this review after using the bike rack for a full month of traveling and taking the bike on and off almost every day.

If you're even looking at this bike rack it's likely because you want something that looks nice instead of a regular much more affordable motorcycle rack. I got mine for my Sur Ron and it holds it well just like any other motorcycle rack. However this one is special, every time I roll my bike off the back of it, one of the end caps on the rack pops off, the same will happen only slightly less often when I put it on.

They also left probably a full tsp of bead blasting media in both the main tubes, so every time I pick it up it sounds like one of those rain sticks and a tiny bit spills onto the floor (I sat for probably 20 minutes flipping the thing end over end when I got it and it's still not all out). I get they can't weld the tubes closed bc welding reasons (pressure, temperature, blowing out your bead). But this makes me think the reason why they have such a poor warranty of just 1 year is that these things will rust out, not after a year of course but enough time I'm sure there will be a fair amount of rust on the corners where the paint chips and inside the tubes around the welds. I mean why not have a longer warranty for some welded steel tube with no moving parts.

I get it though, you're paying for the looks and you're paying for it to be made in the US. I think if you're looking for a better rack just get the one from 1UP meant for the Sur Ron, it's not cheap, but you don't need to use ratchet straps every time to strap your bike down, they're also made in the USA, they have a lifetime warranty, and they wont rust out since they're made from aluminum. Otherwise nearly any other basic motorcycle rack will work just as well as this one and be cheaper.

Thank you for the feedback and review.
We just want to point out that the MotoTote Mini is not a bicycle rack - It's a mini version of our motorcycle carriers.
- The bicycle rack you're comparing to has about a third the weight capacity of the MotoTote Mini at almost the same price!!
- Also, based on real world testing, we believe that tie downs are the safest way to secure heavy e-bikes and electric cycles which are more like motorcycles than bicycles.

Where all the SurRon's at!

So let's say you just bought a SurRon and you want to lug it up to the mountains to ride. You notice all the other Bike Racks have a 50-75lb limit and the SurRon is 100lbs! What do you do? You buy this rack! After you receive it, you watch the YouTube videos on how to assemble it. Install it on your vehicle hitch. Then act like a grown child jumping up and down on it like a 12 y/o on a trampoline. Just to make Mototote lives up to their claim. Next day you load up your SurRon. Take it to mountains and shred that trail like a clown in Nitro Circus. Returning home with a big ole grin on your face.

Exceeded my expectations

If shipping says next day, it will be on your porch the next day! Assembly is too easy. Right out of box with a 400 mile test run, and day after tomorrow another 400 miles on the back of an rv.
MotoTote has exceeded all my expectations..

The Mini Bike Rack is great and lives up to expectations! The garage where I live has no dedicated parking spots therefore I need to remove the rack after each use. This was the only carrier I could find that was strong enough to support my 160 lb+ Ebike all while being small enough to store away and light enough to move around each time with no help. The rack as matte black powdered coated looks bad ass too.
